Invest in the Creative Process: Treat Your Production like a Client Project
Learning Semplice has been extremely rewarding and equally as challenging; it reminded me of working with a WYSIWG again just like how I learned code in 2001. However in retrospect, I wish I had learned the program first, then sketched out my UX second. Instead, I learned as I went along, which informed how I designed, rather than designing with specific design intent. I played around and utilized both the modular drag and drop pre-coded blocks and injected custom code; then I found the Semplice’s goldmine of self-published CSS injections and hacks. This informed another revision to my creative process as I experimented and added to…then editing down my revolving edits. I guestimate I added an extra 7–10 days to process learning through the power of failure. So do yourself a favor and look at inspiration first, design second, as you would a client project. I wish I had known there were some tools to customize design further than what is at first-glance in the drag and drop jam-packed UI slider menus and content blocks, to land on my dream design implemented from my imagination, inspiration & best way to sell in my work to try and land my next dream job or dream client.
